Description: The ridiculous and overpowering Antoine, a parliamentary adviser and not very successful writer, enthrals women and girls with his eloquence in the course of his endless hanging around Parisian cafés. One woman abandons him before he has had enough of her, which wounds his vanity. He must avenge himself on womankind through Catherine, who he decides to seduce and later reject. This vision of satisfaction is reinforced by a stimulating agreement with his friend and publisher to publish Antoine´s intimate notes on this relationship as part of a publishing project. This is the background to his working meetings with the unsuspecting Catherine, seemingly hired for the purpose of transcription.
